U We Claus
Born in Oschaz, Saxony, Germany, 1958. Lives on the Lower Rhine and in Todtmoos, in the black Forest. He works as an artist, translator and writer on arts and Buddhism. First meeting with Joseph beuys in 1979 and subsequently worked for and with him (F.I.U./Free International University) on several projects, such as Waldgut Schirmau, JOSEPH BEUYS: Bonzenbunker, The basalt columns for 7000 Eichen, and The End of the 20th Century. Trained (by Carl Walter Giskes, F.I.U.) in working with natural stones as of 1981. Studied Geology and clay architecture in Afrika (F.I.U.), agriculture with farmer/philosopher Masanobu Fukoaku, and horticulture in Japan. Worked at the Institute of Ecotechnics in the South of France. As of 1990, worked in the Tibetian/ Buddhist Temple Kagyu Ling in Todtmoss-Au. First museum exhibition in 1994 through Hans van der Grinten in Katharinenhof Museum, Kranenburg, Germany. Since 1996 studies on the ‘bothany’ in the oeuvre of Joseph Beuys. Gives lectures and seminars on this subject.
